When is it time to pack up and move on? What is a good indication that you’ve outgrown your current situation. I think this blog might be ready to be retired. I realized I don’t want to spend the time talking about what I have been talking about for three years. If I decide I want to start talking again I’ll produce a new URL.

Thank you all for being so supportive over the last three years. It’s been a lot of fun journaling the ups and downs of my one life. I hope you had half as much fun reading the posts as I had writing them.

Thanks everyone for the readership and comments from time to time. It definitely made blogging more enjoyable. A toast to you.

What the duck are people yelling at? I looked down to make sure there wasn’t a racial slur written on any of my clothes. Nope. What is the deal? I kept on going. Again, more yells. I didn’t have the energy to find out what was going on. I decided to look straight ahead and focus on the music in my ears. What was wrong with the world. Why was I getting punished for being privileged? The irony in that statement. But it was the truth. I forgot about everything around me the second my feet felt the spongy track. I really didn’t think anything of it until the memories came rushing back. It had been so long—too long. The last time I was on a track I had to hop on one leg back to the team bus. That 10 minute experience is to this day the most helpless and worthless I have ever felt. I never made a conscious decision to avoid “the circle”, it just sort of happened through my subconscious. Three years, six months to the day, I was back. Not much had changed except my physique and youthfulness. I couldn’t help but wonder what could have been? Sometimes I wonder if you never really know what you want until you know the outcome.

Tips and tricks

People always ask me how to climb better. Here’s a quick and dirty crash course to crush it hard on plastic. Some good gym/non climbing are plank and pushups. It not only helps your power moves it also attracts top talent. On the climbing side work on deadpoint strength. If the gym has a training board use it to lock off and reach up, trying to hold on as long as you can. When actually climbing don’t forget to warm up. I know there is going to be a lot of pressure to jump right into shredding when a hot Aussie is working a 3 but resist. Wait the 10 minutres it takes to warm up. Don’t forget to have some fun and try weird stuff. Always try to push the grade. It’s something I forget to do. It’s okay to jump on V5, 6, 7, 8. See how far you can get. Keep working them. I don’t really want to give you any drills or games. Most of that shit is really dumb lol. Just climb. See how many climbs you can do and then try to do more and harder.

When things are perfect, it’s so easy. A winning team can put up with so much. A true test happens when things start to fall apart. How do people function then? Most of the time those things that weren’t a big deal start becoming very big. Little ticks become big ticks. Is it even possible to treat positive and a negative equally?

This marks the start of my last week at home. I don’t have any clue what stories tomorrow will produce. A part of me wants to hold on to what I have and keep things going the way they are. I know that’s possible, life keeps moving forward. Is there any way I can turn 180° and keep walking forward?

Summer climbing

This past week has shown me where I want to take my life. Maybe even more importantly, where I don’t want to take my life. This past week has been a great one. I went to some of the most inspiring areas in the world including Mammoth Lakes, Bishop and Yosemite. I am pretty amped for where things are going.

I say this every time I go but, Yosemite Valley really is one of the best places in the world. I love being surrounded by sheer granite cliffs. It’s the most imaginative fort the wildest kid could have ever thought up. As a kid I went to Yosemite every August, doing the same activities each time I went. Luckily I grew up a little and have had the change to explore more parts of the park on my own. Last year I saw Merced Lake and climbed Half Dome. This year I’ve kept it closer to the ground, bouldering whatever I can get my mitts on. Here’s a photo of the three of us near Lower Yosemite Falls.

In recent years Audi seems to be on the cutting edge of design. Example: every car manufacture in the world is using LED headlights now. I found it odd that they decided to imitate a 2011 Chrysler Superbowl ad. Even better, they used the same Eminem song but forgot to pay any royalties. Honest mistake I’m sure. Despite all the controversy I wouldn’t someone giving me one of these.
